CEO of the UK’s longest established circus school. Responsible for overall direction and planning, liaison with funders, programming and general management. Circomedia had 39 permanent staff and 30 casuals. It offers BTEC, Foundation, BA and MA degrees in Circus with Physical Performance, a wide ranging programme of classes and youth circus, with over 700 regular weekly attendances, a series of professional performances and offers artist support.

Responsible for programming the bulk of The Riverfront and Festivals, planning, budget (£2m pa) and staff management, funder liaison. The Riverfront was a new build opened in 2004 with 2 theatres (493 and 128 capacity), 3 galleries, dance studio, recording studio, café and meeting rooms. In 2014 an average of 42 activities and events took place each week. I initiated and managed the Newport Festival, which hinged around the City’s hosting of the Ryder Cup in 2010, and this has been consolidated into a regular series of events from ‘The Big Splash’, a circus and street theatre based weekend event attracting 20,000 attendances, to ‘Discover Dance’ – a week of dance development activity.

Chief Executive, Theatre Royal Winchester
Director of a 400 seat presenting theatre. Responsible for programming, personnel, stakeholder liaison and the overall management of the organisation. Led the re-opening of Theatre Royal Winchester in November 2001 after a six year refurbishment.
In 2003/2004 Theatre Royal Winchester presented 205 performances of 90 different professional productions, 6 weeks of amateur and other hires and achieved over 65% of capacity. TRW had 11 full-time, 7 part-time and 21 casual staff, assisted by a pool of 80 volunteers

Responsibilities: policy development. Management of theatre funds, schemes and development initiatives. Advising theatre organisations on funding, planning, marketing, recruitment and artform issues. Advising on and assessing applications to both Treasury and Lottery funds. Monitoring and evaluating funded activities.

Responsibilities: Overall direction of a busy community arts centre. This included business planning, artistic policy and programming, project management, financial control, fundraising and liaison with funding bodies, personnel management, public relations and marketing.

Responsibilities: Administration, Finance and Marketing. This included acting as Company Secretary, general coordination of a team of eight full time staff, project management, all financial matters from book-keeping to accounts for audit (and computerisation of these during 1993), fundraising and liaison with funding bodies, marketing strategy and all publicity (including design).
